Od roku 1974, kdy do kin přišla původní verze, fanoušci diskutovali a zrodu legendárního zabijáka – ale až nyní přichází New Line Cinema ve spolupráci s producentem Michaelem Bayem s tím, jak vlastně celý příběh začal. Vznikl Texaský masakr motorovou pilou: Počátek. Tento film vzniká v produkci A Platinum Dunes / Next Entertainment Production a A Vortex/Henkel/Hooper Production. Producenti, kteří stojí za úspěšným remakem Texaský masakr motorovou pilou z roku 2003, se vrací na místo činu a přinášejí prequel, který ohledně vzniku klanu Hewittových nešetří pikantními detaily a hlouběji prozkoumává důvody, jež stojí za psychotickými stavy této narušené rodiny. Diváci také vůbec poprvé zjistí, kde se vlastně vzala jedna z nejikoničtějších hororových postav dějin: Leatherface.
